Allen Family Farm - Est. 1904
Pinkney and Candace Allen founded the Allen Family Farm in Moore County in 1904. They farmed 312 acres, growing corn and hay and raising hogs, sheep, cattle, and mules. Son, Guy Allen and his wife Helen Moorehead Allen, were the second owners of the farm. During World War II, they allowed a portion of their fields to be used for training U.S. soldiers. They also fed the soldiers breakfast. Helen Allen was later the only female manager of a Tennessee Co-op, and during the 1980s she owned and operated Helen's Feed and Seed in Lynchburg. Today, the founder's grandsons, Billy D. Allen and Terry W. Allen, own the farm, which produces bees, honey, cattle, tobacco, and hay. Billy is a member of the Elk Valley Beekeepers Association and sells his honey throughout Tennessee and Alabama.
