Additional Information: The farm we call home today is rich with heritage and heart, once belonging to my husband’s grandparents, Vance and Irene Eaton. Married in July of 1948 in Dyersburg, Tennessee, their journey took a dramatic turn when they were rescued by boat during the devastating floods, prompting their move to McKenzie in 1953. In true Eaton fashion, they bought this farm in 1973 through a trade as unforgettable as they were—two mules named Molly and Jack. Vance was a lively character, well-known for breeding black-mouthed curs, feists, and Jack Russell terriers, and for his knack in the fur trading world. He could often be heard whistling as he moved about the farm, a cheerful soundtrack to a life well lived. Vance and Irene were also deeply faithful, often found side by side in the evenings reading their Bibles. After Irene’s passing in 2024, we took over the farm and are proud to continue their legacy—planting a massive garden, raising our own meat, and tending to the land with the same love and devotion they poured into it. Their spirit still fills every corner of this place, reminding us daily of the roots we’re blessed to grow from.
